The Role:
We are looking for our next Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern within our Performance Group for summer 2026.
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will report directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager and will be responsible for various projects within Roquette's Manufacturing Plant.
This position is located in Keokuk, Iowa.

What You'll Do:
Process Engineer assigned project(s), which will improve performance in the areas of energy, chemicals, product yields, and reliability
Will learn the process or unit operation tied to the project(s) that they are assigned, such as steeping, grinding, mechanical separation, drying, evaporation, etc.
Will provide engineering studies, designs and justifications to support Operations goals
May keep historical data to analyze and monitor key parameters to assist with troubleshooting and meeting costs or production goals
What You'll Need:
Education:
Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical). Sophomore or Junior level class standing preferred
Experience:
No previous experience is required
A results-based, goal-focused mindset with a natural curiosity, demonstrated by extracurricular involvement in clubs or community
Leadership and/or work experience to supplement strong student achievement

We are a well-established, small animal hospital + exotics with 4 busy locations across Southern Illinois open Monday through Saturday. We have over 250 combined years of experience and a highly motivated, experienced staff for support.
Central Hospital for Animals' goal for the past 45 years has been and continues to be to provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for each patient we see. Our main hospital is located in Herrin, IL with satellite locations in Carbondale, Marion & Harrisburg. All locations are equipped with a full pharmacy, laboratory and surgical suites. We have a team of 6 veterinarians and 35 highly qualified support staff to support a seasoned or new graduate DVM.
Southern Illinois is a wonderful place to call home! With over 33 state parks and just as many wineries, you'll never be more than an hour away from a new trail to hike, lake to fish or wine to taste. Speaking to more than just the outdoorsmen (and women), Southern Illinois is also home to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (DuQuoin, IL), where you can find year-round events like the DuQuoin State Fair, live music, rodeos, monster truck events and Street Machine Nationals.
While the communities surrounding our four locations in Carbondale, Herrin, Marion and Harrisburg boast a welcoming small town feel, St. Louis, MO and all it has to offer is within a two-hour drive and Nashville, TN is only a three-hour drive!
