Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical interface between the imaging payload and spacecraft bus, ensuring compatibility and joint performance optimization across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and data interfaces.
Lead and participate in system-level trades to evaluate design alternatives, performance vs. cost/risk trade-offs, and technology insertion opportunities.
Assess and troubleshoot emerging payload and bus designs down to the circuit level using your electrical engineering background.
Support radiation analysis and mitigation strategies for electronics in space environments, collaborating with design teams to guide EEE parts selection and architecture-level protections.
Perform or review signal and power integrity analyses, and ensure adherence to space-qualified electrical standards (MIL-STD, ECSS, NASA standards, etc.).
Model and evaluate payload-level power, data, and timing interactions and contribute to electrical interface control documentation (ICDs).
Participate in the evaluation of emerging technologies, COTS/FoS (Commercial/Flyable off the Shelf) hardware, and new mission concepts with an eye toward system-level integration feasibility.
Contribute to design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and work across disciplines to ensure the payload systems meet performance, reliability, and environmental constraints.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active secret Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain secret clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience working with space-based optical remote sensing payloads, especially within LEO missions.
Proven experience in electrical systems engineering for space platforms, including familiarity with radiation effects on electronic systems and parts derating/qualification processes.
Demonstrated experience with spacecraft-payload interface development, electrical interface analysis, and supporting cross-functional teams across the space segment.
Ability to interpret and analyze schematics, block diagrams, and PCB layouts, and perform system-level implications analysis from hardware-level changes.
Demonstrated familiarity with current and emerging FPGA, processor, and memory technologies.
Previous experience working across payload, spacecraft, and ground teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
Experience with modeling tools such as MATLAB, STK, SPICE, HFSS, or signal integrity/power analysis software.
Familiarity with imaging payloads (visible, multispectral, or hyperspectral), data processing requirements, and performance metrics (SNR, MTF, etc.).
Experience with fault management, redundancy architectures, and design for reliability in long-duration space missions.
Familiarity with space industry quality and standards frameworks (NASA GSFC, JPL, ECSS, MIL-STD-1547, IPC standards).

We are seeking an experienced **Staff Systems Engineer** to lead systems engineering efforts for our embedded AV/ADAS platform. You will be responsible for defining and managing system-level requirements and architectures, optimizing resource allocation across computational and networking subsystems, and working closely with software and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration of vehicle platform components. This role is highly collaborative, strategic, and technical, influencing platform roadmaps and long-term technical direction.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead the end-to-end systems engineering for embedded autonomous vehicle (AV) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) platforms.
+ Define, document, and manage system-level requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment with product and safety goals.
+ Develop and maintain system architecture, balancing trade-offs in compute resources (CPU, GPU, NPU), memory (RAM), and communication bandwidth (Ethernet).
+ Perform system resource allocation, profiling, and optimization to meet performance, power, latency, and reliability targets.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with software architecture, firmware, hardware, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure cohesive system design and implementation.
+ Drive technical roadmap planning and contribute to strategic decisions on future platform capabilities and scalability.
+ Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to system integration and performance.
+ Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation within the team.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Master's or PhD preferred.
+ Minimum 8+ years of systems engineering experience, ideally within embedded systems, automotive, robotics, or related industries.
+ Proven track record of leading system architecture design and resource allocation for complex embedded platforms.
+ Deep understanding of AV/ADAS domain including embedded computing platforms, sensor integration, and real-time constraints.

Preferred Qualifications

**Hybrid:** This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI OR the Sunnyvale Technical Center in Sunnyvale, CA three times per week, at minimum.

This is a generational opportunity contribute to a solution to some of the most challenging mission sets in missile defense, not to mention aerospace engineering as a whole. About the Role
The Staff Radar Systems Engineer serves as the technical authority and integrator for next-generation Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) architectures and technologies. Impact:

The starting salary range posted for this position is $267,600.00 to $339,400.00 and reflects the projected salary range for new hires in this position in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including incentive compensation*, equity, or benefits.
Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. For locations not listed below, the recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.
U.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Cisco's plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.
U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Cisco's policies:

* 1 paid day off for employee's birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco
* Non-exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees

* 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next
* Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members
* Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer
For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco's policies.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
* .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
* 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
* 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
* Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
