Job Description
The Nevada State Public Health Laboratory (NSPHL), which includes clinical, newborn screening, food, and environmental testing laboratories, is seeking a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Application Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for administering, configuring and maintaining the Laboratory Web Portal (LWP), a cloud-based platform that supports secure and efficient exchange of laboratory data between the NSPHL and its statewide public health partners. The position develops and optimizes workflows, forms, reports, and data integrations to ensure accuracy, interoperability, and compliance with established data and quality standards. The LIMS Application Specialist also manages system security, documentation, and user access, while providing technical support, troubleshooting, and training to internal and external users. Working closely with Server Administrators vendors, and public health partners, this role ensures the LWP remains reliable, compliant, and responsive to evolving laboratory and data sharing needs across Nevada's public health system.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in system administration and configuration, both for the purposes of the user interface to accommodate orders as well as ensuring configurations meet standards for compliance and accreditation requirements. The ideal candidate will excel in communicating complex information to stakeholders with varying degrees of technical literacy, including data reporting, resolving user questions, and training staff and external partners. We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Systems Developer (Contractor) to support the design, development, and integration of healthcare IT systems for Medi-Cal/Medicaid programs in Nevada. This contract role is ideal for developers experienced in healthcare applications, claims processing, and interoperability standards who can hit the ground running to deliver impactful solutions on tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, configure, and support applications, APIs, and integrations between EHR, claims systems, Medicaid portals, and third-party applications.
Automate workflows for eligibility verification, billing, and claims adjudication.
Collaborate with program managers, analysts, and compliance teams to gather requirements and translate into scalable technical solutions.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and Nevada Medicaid data standards.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize downtime.
Deliver clean, well-documented code and participate in system testing and validation.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
3-5 years of professional software development or healthcare IT experience.
Proficiency in C#, Java, Python, or similar languages.
Hands-on experience with HL7, FHIR, X12, API development, and SQL databases.
