Job Description & Requirements: The Field Engineer is responsible for a broad scope of operational support and install, move, add, and change (IMAC) requests supporting the IT infrastructure in office environments, reservation centers, and airport locations. This position is responsible for implementation, support and repairs of desktop devices, applications, peripherals, telephone systems, network devices, airline specific equipment ( Kiosk, Flight Information Display Systems, Ramp Information Display Systems) and multiple server platforms. Performs, as specified in the Service Request, the physical relocation of any IT infrastructure devices (PC workstations, peripheral devices, phones, network routers, airport devices, etc.). Travel, on call, weekend work, and some off hour work required. Education: 2 - 4 years formal IT training or 3+ years equivalent experience. This position also prefers an A+ Certification. Basic Network/Server and application knowledge (MS Office, Outlook, etc.) is also required. Candidate must have troubleshooting skills (hardware/software) and Windows workstation and peripheral knowledge. Previous airline experience is preferred. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written skills. Must possess the technical expertise to apply relevant technical processes to appropriate business needs.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Windows Server Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain a mission-critical enterprise Windows Server environment for a Federal customer. This role is responsible for Windows server image management, infrastructure support, provisioning, and security compliance across both NIPR and SIPR environments. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth in Windows Server administration, infrastructure operations, and DoD security standards.
Key Responsibilities: Windows Server Engineering & Image Management
Maintain currency across all supported Windows Server versions, operating system releases (current through current-2), and approved hardware platforms as defined in B-tables.
Build, maintain, and support all Windows Server environment variants, including service packs, hotfixes, and customer-specific requirements incorporated into standard images.
Update Windows Server images on a quarterly basis or as required and ensure distribution to all Management and Supplemental stacks enterprise-wide.
Provide Windows provisioning support for call orders in coordination with the Windows engineering team.
Ensure required licenses are available for provisioning and maintain accurate license tracking and compliance.
Provide daily oversight and guidance to PMO and technical teams for provisioning activities based on DEPS requests.
Submit daily acceptance criteria and status updates to the customer.
Infrastructure Management & Support
Provide overall management and support of infrastructure (Management and Supplemental servers) across NIPR and SIPR environments.
Deploy, configure, and support infrastructure hardware and software, including system updates and required changes.
Proactively monitor hardware capacity and performance to ensure availability and reliability.
Obtain, maintain, and leverage performance and utilization monitoring tools (PA & PI) to support internal teams and customer requirements.
Security & Compliance
Ensure IAVA compliance across all production Windows infrastructure servers in both NIPR and SIPR environments.
Serve as the primary Host-Based Security System (HBSS) administrator for all Windows-based Management and Supplemental stack servers.
Implement and maintain STIGs for all Windows-based Management Stacks and Supplemental Site Servers.
Maintain currency with applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and customer-mandated security requirements.
Review, remediate, and track POA&M items resulting from security assessments and findings.
Maintain compliance with all customer-required security training and certification requirements.
Requirements
Active Secret Security Clearance.
CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) certification.
Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments in an enterprise or DoD setting.
Hands-on experience with server provisioning, image management, and infrastructure support.
Familiarity with NIPR/SIPR environments and DoD security standards.
Ability to work onsite at one of the required locations.
Preferred Qualifications
CISSP certification or demonstrated progress toward obtaining CISSP.
Experience supporting HPE server infrastructure.
Prior experience in a federal or defense contracting environment.

You'll get to work with some cutting-edge technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, and will be responsible for working with developers to quickly understand their needs and put together infrastructure to support deploying and scaling their application. You'll also own the automated build/deployment platform and will become the subject-matter expert on supporting and building continuous delivery pipelines.
This position requires a deep understanding of how all layers of an internet-based service work together. You'll need a good understanding of networking, security, DNS, Linux, databases, proxies, and protocols. We use a broad range of technologies, so resourcefulness is a huge asset. You'll serve on an on-call rotation and will be responsible for diagnosing the root cause of any issues and forming solutions that either prevent the root cause or automate the recovery of the issue. You'll also work with developers to identify useful and actionable metrics to measure, then set up monitoring and alerting based on those metrics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support, guidance, and training to developers for maintenance and deployment of Kubernetes manifests, Dockerfiles, and Jenkinsfiles.
Plan and execute maintenance, upgrades, and migrations in Dev, Stage, and Prod in a way that avoids downtime and service interruptions.
Identify and remedy single points of failure and security risks. Continuously improve self-service tools and processes to reduce cycle times for developers and automate repetitive and wasteful operations.
Maintain and improve shared Docker base images, deployment scripts, and service templates.
Manage databases, caching servers, message queues, centralized logging, etc. including Riak, AWS Aurora, MySQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
Maintain tools and components of DevOps platform including Kubernetes, GitLab, Jenkins, and Fluentd. Interface with external CDN, logging, monitoring, and security vendors. Update infrastructure code in Terraform and system images in Packer when needed.
Identify and reduce waste and increase cost efficiency of infrastructure. Provide input on build vs. buy decisions and negotiate contracts with external vendors.
Configuration and tuning of CDN distributions, servers, databases, proxies, messaging queues, and cache servers. Setup of replication and failover for datastores with single points of failure.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of Linux command-line tools. Docker and Kubernetes are a plus.
General programming experience in any scripting language.
Experience working in a fast-moving high-traffic, high-uptime internet service environment.
Knowledge of AWS services, best practices, and capabilities. Familiarity with EC2 networking, instance type selection, and configuration.
Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership.
Prior experience working with microservices, cloud-native applications, and distributed systems is a big plus.
