Roles & Responsibilities • Follows all safety procedures and checks for safety hazards. • Operates and monitors bagging and palletizing stations. • Loads outgoing trucks and rail cars and unloads raw materials. • Prepares and tests product and raw material samples. • Operates forklift, small loader, rail car mover, sweeper, and other light industrial equipment. • Verifies accuracy of paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments. • Records accurate information and statistics associated with all work performed. • Interprets and understands readings on equipment instrumentation panels. • Participates in formal and on-the-job training programs to acquire and broaden both technical and non-technical job skills. • Interact with members of process areas to gather or communicate information and solve problems. • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and ensures product quality and quantity. • Inspects equipment assigned to him/her each shift in accordance with plant policy. • Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment. Educational Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • 1-2 years of basic industrial, mechanical, or shipping experience is required; 2-4 years of experience is preferred. • General computer proficiency. Experience and Skills Requirements: • Previous terminal operations or rail loading experience preferred. • Willingness to complete primary requirements with training. • Ability to demonstrate safe work practices. • Reliability based on attendance record. • Physically capable of performing essential functions. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Ability to interact well with various personality types. The person in this position may have their work schedule adjusted on short notice and may be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends and holidays. While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, confined spaces, and various weather conditions. They may also encounter wet and humid environments, heat, electrical equipment, vibrations, and moderate to loud noise levels.
