The Facilities Technician ensures all company-owned Jeremiahs Italian Ice locations and support facilities remain in excellent operating condition. This individual performs and manages repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment servicing across refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems. Acting as the primary hands-on field technician, this role focuses on executing work directly while reducing reliance on third-party vendors. The Facilities Technician will also collaborate with a Facilities Consultant to implement best practices, manage preventive maintenance schedules, and track work through a ticketing/log system.
This position is field-based, with regular travel primarily in the Orlando area, and occasional travel to Tampa and Jacksonville to service corporate stores, R&D, and the Support Center.
Essential Functions
Perform routine and emergency repairs on commercial refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Repair all plumbing & electrical fixtures including sinks, dipper wells, grease traps, and mixers.
Repair all refrigeration fixtures including ice cream & batch ice equipment, walk-in coolers, freezers, and standalone refrigerators.
Repair and replace doors, door locks, and hinges.
Repair floor tile, walls, and ceiling tiles.
Install shelves and perform miscellaneous carpentry work.
Perform interior and exterior painting as needed.
Perform minor repairs to asphalt (temporary/cold patch) and cement (grind/crack-fill/re-seal).
Conduct minor roof leak repairs.
Perform minor electrical repairs and troubleshoot low-voltage systems, including TV menu boards and related components. Coordinate with a licensed electrician for any work that requires permitting or involves circuit breaker replacement to ensure compliance with Florida regulations.
Repair or replace faucets, water filters, filtration systems, water softeners and RO systems.
Repair urinal and commode flushometers.
Repair or replace leaking water supply lines.
Replace above-floor sink drain lines and clear clogged drains using appropriate tools and techniques.
Install or replace water heaters as appropriate. Coordinate with a licensed plumber for installations or replacements that require permits or fall outside the technicians qualifications under Florida regulations.
Complete scheduled preventive maintenance visits across all corporate stores, the R&D lab, and the Support Center.
Perform or coordinate light exterior maintenance such as pressure washing and small patch repairs (lawn maintenance remains with current vendors).
Light landscaping tasks such as spreading mulch.
Install, replace, and repair equipment and furniture including umbrellas, casters, test equipment, and patio furniture.
Install or replace medium-grade vinyl and signage (not requiring bucket truck or managerial-level work).
Inspect facilities during visits to identify existing conditions, proactive repair opportunities and safety issues.
Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer and company standards.
Track, log, and close all work orders through the facilities ticketing system.
Maintain records of warranties, maintenance logs, and service histories.
Order and maintain inventory of tools, replacement parts, and supplies.
Identify when specialized vendor support is required; source, schedule, and oversee vendors on-site.
Coordinate and work with landlords on lease-covered repairs as needed.
Provide project support for small renovation, installation, or upgrade projects (e.g. Batch installs).
Support the Facilities Consultant and leadership team in developing and maintaining a facilities scorecard and preventive maintenance plan.
Adhere to defined spending limits and approval processes for repair and materials purchases.
Support cost-saving initiatives by extending equipment life, bundling work, and negotiating vendor rates.
Provide emergency response for facility incidents, including storm preparation and post-storm recovery (e.g., generator setup, water mitigation).
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 35 years of hands-on experience servicing commercial food service equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and basic electrical systems.
Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration (batch and dipping systems), HVAC diagnostics and repair, and restaurant equipment maintenance.
Basic knowledge of carpentry, flooring, painting, and light construction.
Familiarity with Florida contractor licensing requirements for HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical work.
Understanding of Florida Department of Health codes and OSHA safety standards for food establishments.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and facility ticketing systems.
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate across multiple locations.
Proficiency in Google Drive, Sheets, and basic digital work order tracking.

Giga Guides play a critical role in conducting preinstalls, completing customer installs, addressing technical tickets, and ensuring residents have a seamless service activation process. Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary in-person point of contact for new residents during move-in and service activation.

Perform preinstalls in homes to ensure readiness prior to resident move-in.

Gather resident feedback and communicate potential service or process issues to internal teams.
Build positive relationships with builders, sales offices, and community partners to support resident engagement.
Collaborate with dispatch, sales, and operations teams to resolve issues quickly and ensure smooth installations.
