PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of plant operations. Coordinate with station engineering to develop and execute condition-based maintenance (CBM) programs. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. Technologies include, but are not limited to, generator testing, voltage regulator testing, motor testing, Doble testing, protective relay testing and calibration, as well as breaker maintenance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform predictive maintenance and calibration testing on major plant apparatus, writing reports, and maintaining the logs
Perform maintenance and calibration in support of plant operations
Provide technical support to plant operations, maintenance staff, and engineering in including technical procedure and specification reviews
Provides in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering activities and programs
Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: (Emergency Response duties and/or coverage, Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in engineering technology, electronics, or related field OR
High school diploma/GED with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or related field
Demonstrated leadership skills to include attention to safety (personal and environmental schedules, equipment and its efficient use, and the use of employees to get the job done
Travel required up to 80%
Effective communication skills in all directions
Ability to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing, walking long distances, and standing for the majority of the time
Ability to lift a of 50 pounds
Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties

Position Overview:
NTI is seeking a Traveling Foreman with will lead a team, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to customer quality standards while performing advanced fiber optic splicing and testing tasks. This role requires national travel to various project sites and combines leadership, project management, and technical expertise in fiber optic infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure project safety, quality, schedule, and cost compliance with company/client standards.
Lead 2-3 crew members, optimizing skills and equipment use.
Act as primary liaison between Project Manager and crew.
Interpret customer prints to plan tasks and schedule work.
Hold daily pre-work meetings to align on goals and safety.
Verify construction and splicing work meets standards.
Complete phase-specific closeout documentation.
Document job progress with photos.
Maintain company equipment (vehicles, trailers, test tools).
Perform precise fusion and mid-sheath splicing on high-count fiber cables (864ct, 1728ct, 3456ct).
Conduct live fiber splicing during maintenance windows to minimize disruptions.
Install fiber optic cables in various environments (underground, aerial, indoor).
Execute OTDR/OLTS testing to assess cable performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve live network fiber issues.
Produce FastReporter reports for test and splicing documentation.
Operate Fujikura splicers and EXFO testers for low-loss splices and diagnostics.
Pull fiber cables through conduits/ducts for installations.
Support cabinet bolting and basket tray installation (preferred).
Safely operate scissor lifts for elevated work (preferred).
Comply with OSHA, IBEW Local, and NTI safety standards
Maintain a clean workspace and follow proper handling procedures for fiber optic materials and equipment.
Work Schedule and Environment
Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, adapting to project requirements.
Perform tasks during daytime and occasional nighttime maintenance windows as required by client schedules.
Stand for extended periods (8-10 hours per day) and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
xperience and Education
5+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry with related experience in construction and tower work.
2-3 years of verifiable experience splicing and testing fiber optic cables for dark fiber providers (e.g., Zayo), meeting stringent quality and performance standards.
3+ years of hands-on experience using Fujikura fusion splicing machines for high-count fiber splicing (864ct, 1728ct, 3456ct).
3+ years of experience performing OTDR and OLTS testing with EXFO testing equipment.
2+ years of experience producing FastReporter reports for network documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Proven ability to perform mid-sheath (ring-cut) splicing and live fiber network splicing with minimal service disruption.
Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues on live/active network fiber.
Familiarity with cable pulling, cabinet bolting, basket tray installation, and scissor lift operation (preferred).
Strong written and oral communication skills for effective team and client interactions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation and reporting.
Strong interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
Ability to pass a clean background check and drug screen.
Valid driver's license required.
Fluency in English for effective communication.
Certification in fiber optic splicing or testing (e.g., FOA CFOT, BICSI, or equivalent) preferred.
Prior experience with major telecommunications carriers or dark fiber providers beyond Zayo preferred.
Familiarity with additional fiber optic testing tools or software beyond EXFO and FastReporter preferred.

Telecom technician job in Annapolis, MD
Synergy is looking for a Cabling Technician to help with provisioning, installation, design, termination, testing, documentation, operations, and maintenance of all types of IT cabling. This service includes both fiber optic cable and copper cable from single-strand/pair to large bulk cables that are used in the infrastructure backbone, underground, outdoor, and horizontal cabling to the desktop or equipment racks. Daily duties include the following:
Lead a team in running cables for building or racking of equipment or other cabling services
Able to create cable run lists and cable schematics to effectively connect the services
Install cabling from transport/wiring closets to the customer access outlet
Install cabling both under floor and above the ceiling in cable trays, troughs, wiring baskets, harnesses, and J hooks
Assist in the design of cable transmission media, machine rooms, transport closets, and points-of-presence
Field terminate cabling utilizing multiple types of connectors technical techniques
Install backbone/vertical, underground, and outdoor cabling
Field test cabling for performance specifications
Provide cable labeling and configuration documentation
Perform cable management
Successfully terminate various types of fiber optic connectors
Successfully interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
Properly test and troubleshoot copper installations
Discuss media selection and implications for implementation on the network
Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices
Interpret the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure
Requirements
Experience:
Shall have a minimum of five (5) years technical experience in IT cable installation and termination.
Capabilities:
Provide team leadership, engineering, and design knowledge to meet technical specifications.
In-Depth knowledge of termination equipment, methodologies and splicing techniques.
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds.
Cable termination.
Testing.
Cable rack preparation.
Layout and installation.
Documentation.
Certifications:
A valid BICSI Installer 2, Copper or Installer 2, Optical Fiber certification is required. Three additional years of experience may be substituted for certification.
Required Clearance: Candidate must have a TS/SCI polygraph clearance
