Position Summary The Pediatric Cardiovascular Sonographer performs comprehensive echocardiographic exams using all necessary modalities to gather accurate diagnostic information. This role focuses on pediatric transthoracic echocardiography in alignment with department and IAC protocols, including M-mode, 2D imaging, color flow, and Doppler techniques. Key Responsibilities: Conduct portable, stress, saline bubble, and contrast-enhanced echo studies Assist with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures Ensure complete and accurate documentation and billing Work independently while maintaining strong organization Support training and orientation of students and trainees Participate in varied shifts, weekend rotations, holidays, and on-call assignments (must arrive within 45 minutes when paged) Maintain a strong patient-centered approach and effective communication Follow sterile technique, isolation precautions, and safety protocols Work safely with hazardous materials and medical equipment Requirements Education: Graduated from a cardiovascular technology program or diagnostic medical ultrasound program. Full Time 40 Hours/Week Monday - Friday, Variable Day Shift Travel Required On-Call Rotation Required Performs complete non-invasive transthoracic echocardiographic studies, assists with various echocardiographic procedures. Uses a variety of equipment necessary to perform testing. 5. Demonstrates the ability to assess patient status and identify each patient's specific age requirements. 6. Is available for call 24 hours a day on a rotational basis after appropriate training/orientation period. 7. Works at remote clinic facilities. 8. Other duties as required. Responsibilities The Diagnostic Sonographer must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy, patient positioning and ultrasound imaging equipment. The technologist must demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill and understanding of image quality. Must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety. Must demonstrate an understanding of Radiographic Positioning, Radiographic Technique, Radiation Safety, Imaging Equipment, Infection Control and Quality Control techniques. Assists in maintaining a work area free from hazards. Presents a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff. The diagnostic sonographer must perform routine diagnostic imaging studies, as needed. Must vary work schedule. The patient population of the Norton Healthcare system ranges from neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. The diagnostic sonographer must provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population.
