Many Armed Guards! Reasonable commute.
Teachers have No Control over Classroom Discipline. Little to No Support. No guidance or leadership. Poor Administration! No real breaks during the day and no privacy at all away from students for Prep or Lunch (you pay your own).
Working with some of the students, of course! This is the only reason one would want to endure so much for so little pay!
Nothing! The result of their horrifically poor "leadership" is the school is under OFFICIAL PROBATION. In other words, the NJ Dept of Education is one step from revoking the charter and closing the school. Every decision and policy they have made and continue to make is all about "PUSH THE KIDS THROUGH" and "THEY MUST GRADUATE", without any consideration for skills or preparing them for life or higher education. The results speak for themselves. One only needs to look at their published test scores. It speaks to years of a toxic culture and inept leadership and administration.
Replace all upper management positions with qualified people with track records of success. End the nepotism! Hire qualified staff. Instead, StemCivics prioritizes former graduates who have no training or qualifications as Deans or Dean Lites. These mere high school graduates are then paid equally or more than certified teachers, and spend their days on their phones rather than supporting the teachers. The issues are systemic and top-down. They are unlikely to be resolved without a major house cleaning.
Slightly above some starting positions. But this does not compensate for the extreme workload and ever decreasing personal time caused by new policies the administration continues to shove downward.
The teacher and faculty body is fairly diverse. There is no diversity at all for many other positions, where the head of school hand picks former graduates for key positions, regardless of their qualifications, and then gives them salaries far exceeding what is needed.
Working with many of the students. That is the only reason that one would teach here, and give so much of ourselves for so little pay.
