The Opportunity
EDC is seeking a Project Estimator to work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are priced competitively, include qualified subcontractors, and meet the client's time and budget constraints. Early involvement of Estimators in project planning is critical to the overall success of our projects. We may require occasional travel.
What You'll Do
Work closely with the Project Managers during the preconstruction phase.
Conduct scope of work evaluations, bid preparation, take-offs, and risk assessment on each job.
Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
Responsible for conceptual, schematic, design development estimates, GMPs, and lump sum bids.
Formulate advice upon reviewing all aspects of a project and participate in meetings with the owner, architect, and engineer to discuss your advice.
Lead preconstruction review meetings.
Plan and establish appropriate quality assurance/quality control processes into project models.
Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.
What We Expect from You
Bachelor's degree in construction, architecture, or civil engineering, or 5+ years of relevant experience working in industrial, entertainment, retail, self-storage, and/or multi-family construction.
Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Revu, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
Self-motivated, able to analyze problems and strategize for best solutions.
Excellent ability to communicate, multi-task, and meet strict deadlines.
Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.

Independently performs complex aspects of estimating assignments requiring advanced knowledge of estimating principles. Large or multiple sections of a total project estimate will be delegated to this position to prepare estimated quantities and costs; however, this position may be given total responsibility of a small project. Responsibilities
Communicate the full scope of industrial services to clients, including rigging, welding/fabrication, alignment, crane operations, and piping systems
Analyze RFQ documents and site conditions to prepare accurate, detailed proposals that align with client expectations
Conduct site visits to evaluate constraints, document conditions, and assess project risk factors
Forecast labor, materials, equipment, and temporary staffing needs for each bid
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure pricing and ensure bid completeness
Create scope-of-work estimates that clearly outline inclusions, exclusions, terms, and risk factors
Generate manpower-loaded schedules using tools like MS Project or Excel
Administer and negotiate prime and subcontract agreements
Provide bid documentation and scope briefings to project leadership
Estimate change orders and perform short-term quantity takeoffs during project execution
Track progress, manage workload, and communicate estimating status to leadership
Uphold industry safety standards in all project planning and analysis
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure accuracy in scope and strategy development
Skills and Specifications

Must-Have Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed construction cost estimates from concept through final construction documents.
Perform disciplined quantity takeoffs from plans/specs and supporting documentation.

Draft and maintain the Basis of Estimate (BOE) for each submission.

Qualifications
Required:

10-15 years of cost estimating for public infrastructure (ideally transit/rail/transportation).
Experience working in Design-Build and Alternative Delivery environments.
Strong Excel skills; comfort working with cost and quantity data.
Ability to read/interpret construction drawings and technical documents.
Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
