Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
Process Multiple Loan Products:
Handle all aspects of processing for HouseMax Funding's loan products, including DSCR and Bridge (Fix & Flip, Ground-Up Construction). Average file load of 20 to 25 each month
File Setup for Underwriting:
Collect, review, and organize borrower documentation; set up complete loan files for underwriting review with a goal of minimizing post UW conditions.
Coordinate Loan Processing:
Oversee and facilitate the movement of loans through the processing stage by working closely with loan originators, underwriters, title agents, insurance agents, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion.
Borrower Engagement:
Daily proactive communication with borrowers via phone, email, and text to request documentation, provide updates, and answer questions.
Increase Borrower Satisfaction:
Deliver outstanding customer service, resolve issues quickly, and ensure borrowers have a positive experience throughout the loan process.
Compliance & Accuracy:
Ensure all files and documentation meet regulatory and company standards.
System Management:
Input and update loan data in LOS (Lendingwise) operating systems along with other 3

We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Construction Underwriter II to join our operations team. This individual will play a key role in the evolution of our Multi-Family and Mixed-Use construction department. The candidate for this role should have a minimum of 3 years experience in the direct underwriting and credit analysis for construction lending. A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Urban Development, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Risk Management is a plus. Evaluation of pro formas, construction budgets, and stabilization NOI (Net Operating Income) projections. Analysis of multi-layered risk based on audited financials, net worth, liquidity, portfolio performance, project feasibility cash-flow and debt coverage will be required. Our full suite of Business Purpose Loans also includes Residential Transitional Loans (RTL), DSCR (non-consumer), Bridge, Ground-Up Construction, and Portfolio products.
Responsibilities will include analysis of multi-layered risk based on audited financials, net worth, liquidity, portfolio performance, project feasibility, cash-flow, and debt coverage. Assessment of collateral using both cost and income approaches along with complex entity structures, and construction team evaluation (license, bonding, insurance compliance, plans, permits, construction contract - GMP or fixed-price preferred).
RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare comprehensive credit memos summarizing all findings.
Recommend loan structure to mitigate identified risks.

Responsibilities
The E&S Small Business Production Underwriter will produce new business as part of an assigned territory underwriting team(s). The SBU will help manage the assigned underwriting territory(s) to achieve profitable grown, including underwriting new business and marketing to our Agent partners. Identify new business opportunities and manage agency relationships.
This role services agents in the state of Texas and can be based in Austin, Dallas or other key locations.
Specific Duties:
Review and underwrite new business submissions for acceptability according to authority granted.
Evaluate, accept, reject, or modify risks within established underwriting guidelines and authority. Comply with company policies, procedures and rating plans when evaluating and managing risk.
Make sound risk and pricing decisions that achieve profitable loss ratios.
Achieve designated customer service standards with a focus on fast turn-around time.
Participate in territory team marketing calls, video conferences, and agency visits. Some travel may be required.
Provide detailed issuance instructions to ensure policy is delivered consistent with quoted terms and conditions and in accordance with established guidelines relative to policy construction.
Utilize various underwriting tools to determine acceptable risk characteristics, accurate classifications, insurance to value, calculate rates, etc.
Recognize and create cross-selling opportunities for other company products.
Actively market small commercial product to agents and travel within assigned territory, as necessary.
Reinforce our “ease of doing business” model by meeting or exceeding expectations and service standards on a consistent basis.
Continues to increase underwriting knowledge and skills. This may be done through formal education (AINS, ASLI, CPCU, CIC).
Operates according to underwriting authority as granted by Berkley Aspire.
May perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two plus years related insurance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of two years of experience in E&S underwriting.
Must have strong customer service background in a professional environment.
Have obtained or be actively working on obtaining insurance designations relevant to our field (AINS, ASLI, CPCU, CIC) id preferred.
Strong customer focus and the ability to respond with a sense of urgency.
