* Provide leadership and expert advice on developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of the wide area network, unified communications and cloud infrastructure.
* Provide technical expertise to the design, development, and implementation of information security policies and procedures.
* Devise and conduct risk assessment programs to identify areas of potential vulnerability in operating systems used throughout the organization.
* Analyze findings and develop long-range plans for security systems that minimize risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, prevent security incidents, and ensure systems reliability.

Key Requirements:
* Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
* Developing, defining, managing, and documenting IT security projects; AND
* Applying Federal information systems security protocols to integrate information systems security with other security disciplines; AND
* Performing or managing Federal information systems security assessment and authorization.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resumé.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), Network Administration Unit is seeking a highly qualified InformationTechnologySpecialist (ITS I) to serve within the Network Management Services section of the Data Center. The Network Specialist works with other Network Specialists and Network Associates, as well as Telecommunications Engineers in the Network Engineering Unit. A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency with data/voice networking components. The incumbent will work on day-to-day maintenance, operation tasks, and assist with network Architecture, Engineering, Administration, or Data Center tasks as needed.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Working Conditions

Working Conditions
This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance of the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmers' markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.
This position is eligible for hybrid work in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order N-22-25 and at the sole discretion of the Department of Social Services under California Government Code Section 14200. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be re-evaluated at any time. The incumbent will be expected to report for in office work and attend work related in-person events as deemed operationally necessary.
