Substitute/Substitute Food Service Worker District: Sycamore Community Schools GENERAL DESCRIPTION Prepares food and serves menus by following standardized recipes, preparation and service methods established by the district child nutrition service department by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists in the preparation and serving of food as assigned. Maintains a quality sanitary operation using the rules and regulations of the local health department. Maintains proper sanitation using proper food handling techniques, food preparation, storage of food and care of kitchen equipment. Rotates jobs when necessary for food preparation, cashiering, setting up serving lines, serving, washing dishes and cleaning up assigned work areas. Assists with counting daily receipts, compiling data for food production records or daily child nutrition reports. Assists in determining food, equipment and supply needs and monthly inventories of stock. Adjusts for nutritionally equivalent substitutes and proper use of leftovers as necessary. Cross trains in all facets of the child nutrition service operation. Assumes responsibility of maintaining up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
