Job Summary:
This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment within the school, operating in strict adherence to the CPS Student Code of Conduct and implementing essential site security and safety protocols. The role utilizes various CPS technology systems, including camera monitoring and the Microsoft Office Suite, to support daily school business processes. It requires consistent adherence to written and oral instructions, strong collaboration with colleagues and school administration, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position demands sound judgment, ethical practice, and a high degree of cultural awareness and competency when interacting with a diverse school community. The incumbent will take personal responsibility for continuous improvement, learning from experiences, and efficiently managing multiple tasks. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that will be paid for time worked on an hourly basis
This Job Will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
Operates an automobile to safely and reliably transport executives to and from meetings and other CPS-business-related events.
Conducts site surveys as necessary to ensure the safety of executives at these locations.
Ensures the confidentiality of information related to travel details of executives.
Implements appropriate security measures to mitigate threats or danger to executives.
When not actively transporting executives, conducts "remote camera missions" to support the safety of schools.
Reports unusual activity or suspicions of safety issues to the Supervisor in a timely fashion.
Completes proper documentation related to incident reports and misconduct reports.
Actively participates in professional development training to ensure ongoing growth and to advance skills.
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Transportation Security Specialist must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience Required:
* A minimum of two (2) years of highly successful related experience
* Experience with CPS technology systems utilized for school business processes (i.e. cameras and MS Office software suite)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the CPS Student Code of Conduct: A thorough understanding of the rules, expectations, and disciplinary procedures outlined in the Chicago Public Schools' Student Code of Conduct.
Knowledge of basic methods of providing site security and safety: Familiarity with fundamental security principles, protocols, and practices to ensure a safe environment within school premises.
Experience with CPS technology systems utilized for school business processes (i.e., cameras and MS Office software suite): Practical experience using relevant technological tools and software specific to Chicago Public Schools' operations, including surveillance systems and standard office productivity applications.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions: The capacity to accurately comprehend and execute tasks and directives provided both in written format and verbally.

Description of Key Responsibilities
1. Provide security services to the college community by enforcing College policies, patrolling campus, and securing assigned areas or buildings.
2. Patrol assigned zones observing campus activity, responding to concerns and deterring criminal activity.
3. Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating
an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community.
4. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. 5. Escort students and employees around campus and/or to the remote parking lot as requested. Actively patrol campus property and buildings on foot, by vehicle, Segway or bicycle.

7. Respond to burglar alarms, fire alarms and system trouble alarms.
8. Assist students, employees, and approved guests by unlocking buildings or residence hall rooms as appropriate.
9. Respond to campus situations including disputes, violations of College policy, medical and other emergencies. In cases of illness or injury, provide emergency first aid and/or CPR/AED to ill/injured persons, or assist in the transportation of persons when necessary. Coordinate with the Naperville Police and Fire Department and/or the Residence Life staff in responding to emergencies.
10. Assist with evacuations when fire alarms sound and direct individuals to safe areas in the event of severe weather. Warn campus community when severe weather is likely.
11. Intervene in and document behavior which is inconsistent with College policy or disruptive to the campus community.
12. Complete necessary administrative forms/reports related to campus safety. Provide accurate information and documentation of all information from participants and/or witnesses. Complete a Daily Activity Report and other paperwork as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.
13. Provide vehicle jump starts to employees and students as needed.
14. Assist Director and/or Assistant Director in conducting investigations or special projects as requested.
15. Provide security services to organizations that rent the use of college property.
16. Appear in DuPage County Court and campus conduct hearings regarding incidents that occur in the college community when necessary.
17. Provide traffic/crowd control during scheduled activities or during emergency situations as necessary.
18. Enforce state, local and college parking rules and regulations. Keep excellent records of all citations and ensure that tickets are properly submitted to be entered into the system for tracking purposes and payment.
19. Apply vehicle immobilization boot per department protocol.
20. Attend regular training including an overview of college and department policies, patrol and lock up procedures, city and state laws, customer service, crisis management, confrontation skills, conflict resolution, report writing, self‐defense, parking enforcement, radio communications, safe driving practices, first aid, and working with faculty and staff.
21. Become CPR/AED, First Aid and Narcan trained within 90 days of employment.
22. Attend external training courses, classes, and seminars related to campus safety, which are offered by various agencies and companies to further develop protective service skills and knowledge.
23. Attend monthly staff meetings, quarterly division meetings and established training throughout the year.
24. Assist, as directed, in the hiring and training of new campus safety staff. Provide guidance and direction to student officers working within Campus Safety, as necessary.
25. Be approachable, attentive and responsive to requests for basic information and directions given to students, faculty, administration, staff and/or the general public.
26. Maintain positive relations with external law enforcement agencies to obtain or exchange relevant protective service information. Assist external law enforcement agencies when requested with issues concerning college students, faculty/staff and/or guests.
27. Fill departmental collateral assignments as assigned by a supervisor, such as monthly assignments concerts, special events, and sporting events.
28. Clean and fuel campus safety vehicle(s).
29. Provide programs and presentations, which promote safety and security to students, faculty, administration and staff. Conduct one program per academic year.
30. Perform other work‐related duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY
Campus Safety Officers are non-sworn safety/securityofficers Maintains a highly visible professional presence on the campus in order to provide various types of immediate assistance to students, employees and visitors of the College. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain high visibility on campus locations; act professionally and exhibit a pleasant personality in public.
2. Assist students, staff and visitors; create a customer friendly environment; make suggestions to improve customer service.
3. Monitor the campus for building and patron safety; advise appropriate personnel of situations and/or take appropriate actions. Ask unauthorized individuals to leave the building/grounds; advise on parking violations.
4. Open and close the buildings, individual offices and classrooms and other rooms; report and lock doors.
5. Escort patrons to their vehicles upon request; assist with jump starting disabled vehicles, locked keys in vehicle, etc.
6. Make routine patrols of parking areas and advise on lighting, overnight vehicles, issue parking violations and unsafe or unusual conditions. Report and prepare accident/incident reports. Make safety inspections.
7. Maintain a working knowledge of all campus facilities and operations, campus staff and their vehicles, and sources of information dissemination. Assist with the administration of college policies and regulations.
8. Monitor ingress and egress of the campus; question patrons regarding removal of property from premises; report theft.
9. May respond to all requests for assistance and emergency calls depending on the nature of the emergency situations, assist campus and local police and fire authorities.
10. Direct traffic as needed for graduations or other special events.
11. Serve as a trainer and mentor for new Campus Safety Officer; assist in the training of evacuation plan sector leaders. Assess training efforts and advise on areas of improvement during post training analysis.
12. Cross train to work dispatch center as needed. Process emergency requests for service and dispatch emergency police, fire and other public safety equipment.
13. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives.
14. Assist in management of any public health matter where enhanced PPE State mandates are in effect or ordered by the state, college or designee.
15. Obtain and maintain required certifications as required by the college or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Must pass a complete personal and criminal background check.
3. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate cars and 15 passenger vans.
4. Must be able to walk stairs and conduct prolonged foot patrol indoors and out in all weather conditions.
5. Must be able to assist with the rescue of injured or ill persons or the arrest of criminal offenders.

This position is a vital part of the Campus Safety team and its mission to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. II. Duties and Responsibilities: Three Student Campus Safety Officers will be assigned to work seven days a week from 4:30 PM until 10:30 PM. The officer stationed at the Campus Safety Office will be accountable for collaborating with our Guardworld Safety Ambassador in the monitoring of activities, answering calls for service, responding to emergencies, and conducting proactive, preventative patrols in all other areas Campus Safety is responsible for, on and off our main campus. Job Title: Campus Safety Officer
Summary Description: Ohio Christian University is seeking a full-time Campus Safety Officer to provide for the security of academic, residential and administrative buildings. In addition, provide general and emergency support services, and maintain a safe / supportive campus environment. This is a second shift position and is classified as an essential employee and he or she is expected to be on duty when scheduled regardless of whether the campus is closed.
Tasks and Responsibilities: Performs security duties while patrolling or monitoring surveillance systems and the physical safety of campus buildings by locking and unlocking doors. Checks for unauthorized persons, safety hazards, and general security violations, enforcing traffic, parking regulations, and issuing tickets. Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty as necessary, perform jump-starts, and other public assistant requests. Reports all problems or emergencies to immediate supervisor and documents incidents with a written report. Maintains a daily shift log and documents all activities during his or her shift. Act as a first responder in emergencies and serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
Qualifications: High School diploma / Associates degree / Previous security / Law Enforcement / Military experience. Current OPTA 20hr Private Security Firearms Certificate or the ability to obtain within 6 months of initial hire date. Be proactive, have excellent customer service skills, and a strong human relations skills with the ability to interact positively with a diverse university population, and team oriented.
Skills Necessary: Able to lift 50lbs; walk foot patrol routes; able to use Microsoft Word and Excel for reports: operate phones and radios; operate a motor vehicle.
Working Hours: Evening and possible overnight shifts Monday-Friday (subject to change to accommodate needs of the university).
