The DME Service Technician serves a critical role in providing durable medical equipment (DME) & supplies to the patients served by Down East Medical Supply. The DME Service Technician delivers sets-up and provides education on the safe use of DME and supplies that meet the needs of our patients that allows them to remain safely in their homes. Responsibilities: Physicians, patients and customers are served by providing quality durable medical equipment and supplies in a timely manner. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of Down East Medical Supply and UNC Lenoir Health Care. LENOIR Other information: Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Possess at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer a one-year certificate from a college or technical school; or twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Previous experience within the home medical equipment field, or prior delivery experience with a good driving record and a valid North Carolina driver's license. LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION None Required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Mechanical ability is required for general maintenance and repair. This work is performed within 24 hours. Selected examples are ice machine repair, dripping faucet repair and light bulb replacement. 2. Emergency Maintenance - Upon notice from Departmental Work Control Center or directly from customer this employee will respond within time frame set by departmental policy and perform or summon the appropriate trade to perform work necessary to prevent harm or injury to patients, visitors or staff or work to prevent extensive damage to equipment or to the facility. Selected examples are power outages, plumbing outages, door and hardware problems. 3. Other Duties as Assigned - Including but not limited to exterior maintenance, cleaning mechanical rooms, landscaping work, transporting equipment for repair and other duties as needed. 4. Summary: Produces angiography studies under the clinical direction of a physician. Takes responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. Participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. Responsibilities: 1. Produces Angiography images and specialized studies to include, but not limited to: -Obtains history and/or examination data and evaluates for contraindicating conditions; -Reviews physician's report; -Scrubs for procedures and sets up sterile fields; -Administers contrasts by direct injection or IV line; -Takes and monitors vital signs; -Applies shielding, supportive and immobilization devices; -Adjusts and controls equipment; -Reviews film for clinically acceptable results; -Recovers and releases patients; -Prepares room by gathering and setting up equipment, supplies and contrasts. 2. Applies radiation safety guidelines and patient protection guidelines. 3. Provides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients. 4. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served. 5.     The Procedural Technologist performs a variety of technical, diagnostic, therapeutic and patient care tasks for patients with cardiovascular disease using radiological and cardiovascular sciences. The Technologist assists credentialed care providers in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in a range of settings including the Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology Lab, and Vascular Lab. Responsibilities And Scope + Assists physicians with obtaining digital radiographic images of heart, peripheral vessels and any other required structures. + Ensures room is prepared and stocked for the upcoming procedure. Sets up and prepares suite for upcoming procedures, including sterile trays, catheters, wires, contrast and other supplies needed as guided by the physician. Assists with routine inventory management tasks. + Verifies patient identification. Interviews patients to collect and document prior medical history. + Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patients for effective imaging. + Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathology. + Inputs and organizes patient information and diagnostic images in both primary electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) system and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). + Performs daily quality checks for procedural areas. Practices and ensures radiation safety per documented protocol. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control. **Qualifications** Hired candidates are expected to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification after hire. Training and assessment opportunities will be provided.
