Coordinates communication and planning for priority instruments and turnaround times, informing the surgical team of any delays.
Responds promptly to surgical team calls regarding instrumentation problems or urgent needs.
Cleans and processes equipment per manufacturer's instructions and safety protocols.
Ensures instrumentation is processed and available for next-day, on-call, or weekend surgeries.
Assists with documentation, kit updates, pick-list revisions, and maintaining accurate instrument count sheets with coordinators and physicians.

Research Community Health Worker to deliver evidence-based interventions for multisite research study.
Qualifications
Research Community Health Worker (CHW): The Disparities Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking Research Community Health Workers to be trained to offer interventions through clinical sites in socially vulnerable communities. Interventions will focus on mental health, obesity/weight management, and cancer screening and are part of a large, multisite grant. CHWs will receive formal training in their intervention of focus. They will conduct group and/or individual sessions with enrolled patients, maintain post-session notes, and conduct careful tracking of intervention sessions. Sessions may be held by zoom or in person, and will be audio recorded for quality control. CHWs will take part in weekly supervision with licensed providers to receive input and coaching support. Community Health Workers may also be trained to conduct outreach to potential participants, and to invite them to be screened to take part. Role can be part or full time, depending on candidates and areas of intervention focus.
Community Health Worker candidates should enjoy interacting with patients, be empathetic and proactive, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment working with patients across several sites. CHWs will travel to participating clinics sites (travel compensation available). Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

SUMMARY FUNCTION:
The In-house Organ Recovery Coordinator is responsible for providing support for organ donation activities within the assigned facility/facilities to maximize opportunities for organ donation. Provides consistency and promotes trust in the donation process by ensuring excellent donor evaluation, management, and organ yield. The In-house Organ Recovery Coordinator works with potential donor families, hospital personnel and transplant hospitals to facilitate efficient recovery of organs and tissues for transplantation. Extensive on-call services and flexibility are required. Significant daily presence in assigned hospital is required. This position collaborates with the medical, nursing and other departments as necessary in the planning, design, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of educational and quality assurance programs related to donation. Performs daily responsibilities to meet the needs of potential donors, donors, donor families, potential donor families, hospital personnel, physicians, and the OPO. Provides rapid on-site response to referrals. Primary responsibilities will occur in the assigned facility where employed. Increased donor activity, staffing shortages, etc. will require assuming responsibilities outside the primary area.
Evaluates potential donors. Assesses potential donor families, obtains appropriate authorization for donation, conducts Medical/Social History interview, and assists donor families through identification of potential end of life decisions, attending family meetings and providing donation information as needed. Responsible for medical management of donors prior to recovery activities. Directs the placement of anatomical gifts as necessary. Provides transplant surgeons with information necessary to determine appropriate recipients. Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery of organs and perioperative management of the donor when necessary.
Coordinates organ placement/organ allocation with transplant programs and surgeons. Provides information necessary to determine medical suitability of organs for designated recipients in accordance with regulatory guidelines including CMS, UNOS, AOPO and company policy. Coordinates with tissue services, as appropriate, to facilitate tissue recovery.
Coordinates and assists in the surgical recovery of organs and peri-operative management. Assists in arranging transportation for organ recovery teams. Coordinates surgical recovery/packaging and arranges transportation of organs for transplant and/or research. Possesses a working knowledge of pulsatile preservation. Manages all lab specimens for shipment and delivery to laboratories in accordance with established policies.
Provides support to Hospital Development Coordinator, in the assigned facility, to identify formal and informal leaders, assesses their respective roles, degree of influence and needs. Works collaboratively with these leaders and utilizes their expertise to improve and promote donation. Assists in policy and procedure development. Functions as an expert clinical resource for the hospital regarding organ and tissue donation.
Participates in decision-making programs and committees in the hospital that have an influence on organ donation, promoting donation and seeking opportunities for further collaboration. Facilitates the donation process.
Maintains high visibility by conducting rounds to all critical care units with medical teams and functioning as the designated resource within the hospital for all issues related to organ donation. Provides donor and referral follow-up to appropriate hospital staff one-on-one or by post-recovery conferences.
In partnership with the In-House Donation Specialist (when applicable), develops, provides and evaluates in-house training and in-service educational programs on all aspects of the donation process for hospital staff. Also, collects and reports donation outcome data to various levels of clinical and administrative hospital staff. Documents hospital activities, updates hospital plans, goals, and critical issues in a timely manner on a regular basis.
Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL TRAITS: Talks and listens to donor families, hospital personnel, and physicians. Visually assesses donors. Reads charts and documents information. Walks, stands, and sits. Lifts and carries containers up to 70 lbs. Drives to and from donor hospitals. Must be able to stand for more than eight hours a day. Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver license required and ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements. May be required to use privately owned vehicle during the scope of company business.

What your day might look like:
Documents all services in accordance with Federal/State regulations and BHSN policies/procedures
Coordinates services with chemical dependency treatment for clients, including monitoring progress and tracking attendance
Accompanies Child Protective Services and Preventative caseworkers on home visits to identified families to screen and provide consultation
Supports clients with case management needs including, but not limited to linkage to other services and care coordination
Develops, implements and monitors Plan of Safe Care for any infant identified at birth as being affected by substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms
Your Skills and Qualifications:
Valid NYS Educational Department CASAC-T certification or time spent working in mental health/substance use fields
Experience in or knowledge of addiction/chemical dependency field preferred
Valid NYS driver's license, acceptable to insurance carrier, for required local travel
CPR certification required within 60 days of employment

Summary: The Community EMS Liaison is charged with managing and growing the day-to-day relationships with our EMS partners. The employee will work closely with the Hospital 's EMS Medical Director to support their role and responsibilities and to actively grow Affiliate services and manage other EMS business and relationships through formal contractual relationships. The Community EMS Liaison will serve as a Liaison to the hospital's Executive Team on all matters involving EMS operations. The employee will actively work to improve collaboration, integration, and coordination with area EMS services. The employee is responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation, and management of initiatives to facilitate the successful integration of service excellence standards throughout the facility. Serves as a liaison between hospital, in-patients, and hospital-based physicians to enhance patient and physician satisfaction. Works to increase operational effectiveness to improve customer satisfaction, promoting growth and process improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
SERVICE:
Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.
Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center. Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Serve as a liaison between the Hospital and area EMS agencies on issues related to EMS and hospital operations.
Actively participate in internal and external meetings related to advancement of EMS service line.
Manage and grow EMS Affiliations within the hospital's area services.
Assist Hospital's EMS Medical Director with administrative functions.
Affiliation Agreement management and coordination.
EMS Grand Rounds preparation and administrative oversight -EMS Provider Credentialing -EMS Care investigations -EMS Medical Director/Service/Provider relationships and DPH reporting.
Coordinate EMS educational classes for area EMS providers
Work with hospital emergency department leadership to assure proper data capture on EMS relevant metrics.
Work with hospital emergency department leadership on issues related to EMS.
Monitor EMS metrics/data for trends or issues.
Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation, and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment.
Supportive of the compliance program set forth by SJMC and demonstrated by Upholds the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance. - Adheres to dealing appropriately and fairly with employee misconduct. - Enforces all compliance policies as they pertain to his/her area.
Provides and assures timely compliance education as requested by the Regional Compliance & Safety Officer and/or through corporate initiatives.
Plan and Manage the Customer Service Program Writes overall customer service plan for the hospital, complete with objectives, strategies and tactics.
Conducts ongoing needs assessments to determine areas for improvement.
Communicates the Star Power program to employees.
Regularly updates management on the status of initiatives. Coordinate and promote EMS recognition events (EMS Week, Hospital Week, etc.).
Remain knowledgeable on local, state, and national EMS issues.
Positively promote SJMC commitment to EMS in all of the above duties. Sits on and is an active member of regional EMS committee and subcommittees.
Managing projects in support of hospital business objectives.
Trains all staff on customer service skills Ensures all employees receive an annual update on customer services skills.
Provides in-services to departments to enhance the customer service skills of the staff.
Quality:
Presents service topics to management staff periodically.
Monitors and evaluates patient satisfaction.
Analyzes summary reports and presents data to management staff.
Shares data with Quality, identifying areas for quality improvement.
Acts as Service Consultant Provides service coaching and counseling on a one-to-one basis upon request and/or as needed.
Promotes staff recognition and positive morale.
Regularly promotes and educates staff on this program.
Assists departments in creating department recognition programs.
Organizes special activities and events as needed to increase morale.
Analyzes, reviews, and proposes appropriate actions based on customer service / HCACHPs data.
Develops a culture of accountability and follows-up with departments who are unable to meet goals.
Reports to the assigned "O" for further improvement opportunities with individual departments.
Participate with the Magnet application process and assist in the magnet journey with nursing leadership.
Distinguish methods for achieving and sustaining change for improvement with nursing sensitive quality measures. Presents service topics to management staff periodically.
Monitors and evaluates patient satisfaction. Analyzes summary reports and presents data to management staff.
Shares data with Quality, identifying areas for quality improvement.
Acts as Service Consultant Provides service coaching and counseling on a one-to-one basis upon request and/or as needed.
Notifies management staff of any service concerns in their areas and helps in correcting them.

Support hospital initiatives by contributing to safety surveys and safety initiatives within the organization and within the industry by focusing on preventive solutions to reduce harm.

Participates in appropriate committees.
Periodic in-services and routine orientation may be conducted for employees, leaders, or medical staff regarding healthcare risk management principles and a culture of safety.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Albitites:
Education: Should possess EMT, Paramedic (preferred), or other healthcare related certifications/licensure (NRP, RN, PA). BS in Management, Healthcare, or Administration preferred. Equivalent EMS management or healthcare experience will be considered.
Experience: 8 years of EMS or healthcare clinical experience. EMS or healthcare leadership experience preferred. 5 years of previous liaison experience
Certification/Licensure: Texas EMT certification or another clinical certification/license Software/Hardware: Functional knowledge in MS Office applications as well as common EMS software applications.
PREFERRED Education and experience in patient relations preferred. Exceptional interpersonal/communication skills Demonstrated ability to successfully resolve problems with a win/win approach. Experience with Core Measures, Press Ganey and strong customer service orientation. Able to demonstrate effective initiative to address and resolve matters quickly in the best interests of patient outcome, patient satisfaction, and physician satisfaction.
