1991

Founded in 1991 Serving 10,000 children daily Awarded Gold Seal of Excellence - Broward County Child Care Experience in providing quality before and after school programs in over 70 schools throughout Florida Free snack in all schools.

The first National Before and After School Study was conducted in 1991.

1994

1994: 21st-Century Community Learning Centers (CCLCs) (Federal Role in funding Child Care and After school)

1999

2002

Inner City Games expands to Chicago, IL. In November 2002, California voters passed Proposition 49, setting the stage for the largest statewide expansion of after school services in the nation.

In 2002, California was investing 120 million dollars into statewide after school programs.

2003

Awarded over $30 million in funding since 2003 (The Children Services Council, United Way, Community Foundation of Broward, Jim Moran Foundation and 21st Century)

2005

2005: Senate Bill 638 (Funding Sources and Successes and Challenges of ASP in CA today)

2006

The release of those funds was triggered in September 2006 when Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law Senate Bill 638, the After School Education and Safety program.

2007

As of August 2007, over 3,800 schools are receiving ASES funding.

2017

September 2017-Present: The Legislative Branch votes to fund ASPs (Funding Sources and Successes and Challenges of ASP in CA today)

2018

After-School All-Stars teams up with NBA Cares and Team LeBron for the 2018 NBA All-Stars Games to raise awareness and funds for the cause of after-school.

2021

The Afterschool Alliance is proud to announce the winners of the New York Life Foundation’s 2021 Aim High grant competition, representing a $1,500,000 investment in middle school out-of-school time (OST) programs serving disadvantaged youth in communities across the nation.

2022

The New York Life Foundation and the Afterschool Alliance are pleased to announce the 2022 Aim High grant recipients.
