Dr. Hupp, a cum laude graduate of Harvard University’s School of Dental Medicine, remains an advocate for the addition of technological advances in medical schools across the country. He spearheaded the development of the first new public dental school in the United States in the last 15 years, using innovative tools to enhance the learning potential of students at East Carolina University.

Dr. James Hupp worked as the Dean of the Dental School at the University of Mississippi for six years starting in 2002. He was charged with operational oversight for the school, and some of his achievements included the enhancement of the school’s minority enrollment and the development of more student-focused educational programs. Dr. James Hupp has continually made every possible effort in increasing the diversity and efficiency of the dental schools he has worked in and others as well.

In addition to Dr. James Hupp’s position at schools like Vanderbilt University and the University of Mississippi, he remains a Professor at the School of Dental Medicine and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Hupp also teaches students at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. Dr. James Hupp has held academic appointments at the University of Connecticut, the University of Maryland, and the University of Pennsylvania. He served the University of Maryland Medical System as its Chair of the Department of Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery and as Chair of its Department of Dentistry.
