How do engineer students make resumes?
Engineer students make resumes by highlighting their technical/engineering skills and educational accomplishments, as well as soft skills such as creativity, communication, and attention to detail. The resume should include a career objective, education, work experience, and skills section.
The career objective, also known as the profile summary, is located at the top of your resume, just under your contact information. The goal of a career objective is to introduce yourself, your skills and accomplishments, and what your career aspirations are. It should be no longer than two to four sentences in length and set the tone for the rest of the resume.
For example, "Passionate and driven engineering student with experience in mechanical design, seeking a role as Junior Engineer at Company X that engages my knowledge of technical schematics and collaboration skills to produce intuitive and operator-friendly mechanical features."
Since you're just starting your career as an engineer, you probably don't have a lot of experience. No worries. The education section is a great opportunity to showcase some of your skills and achievements.
Here you can mention any courses that you may have excelled at or any relevant group projects that you may have worked on. Be sure to also include any professional affiliations, such as the American Association of Engineering Societies.
For the experience section, you can include any previous internship experience. You can also include projects that you have worked on. We recommend creating a work portfolio that you can link to in your student engineer resume. Be sure to include any additional awards, skills, and achievements.
