How do I put manual testing skills on my resume?

By Zippia Team - May. 6, 2022

You put manual testing skills on your resume in several ways - such as introducing it in the profile summary, describing it under work experience, including a specialized skills section, as well as by demonstrating it with your achievements.

The first place to introduce manual experience on your resume is in the profile summary or objective statement. In one to four sentences, touch on who you are as a candidate and what you bring to the table.

For example, "ISTQB Advanced Level-certified manual tester with three years of experience. Motivated to boost efficiency and manual testing effectiveness at Company XYZ. Experienced user of Selenium and Bugzilla, and always in the pursuit of ideas from both sides of extreme."

Next, you should elaborate on the specific experiences you have had as a manual tester. Similar to the profile summary, you'll want to convey your experiences by focusing on your achievements.

As you know, data is everything. The same holds true for your experiences, so provide quantifiable achievements when possible. For example, "Executed test cases across 15+ functional product areas, beating team efficiency averages by 20%."

If you are just starting out as a tester in your career, then include any apprenticeship experience in the work experience section. Otherwise, focus on other sections such as the education and certifications sections to showcase some of your skills via your academic achievements, relevant coursework, and projects.

Finally, crank things up a notch by including a customized list of skills. Include no more than ten hard and soft skills that not only reflect your own abilities but also align with those mentioned in the job description. Be sure to also touch on these skills throughout your resume.
