This question is about interior designer.
You start your career in interior design by gaining a bachelor's degree. Standard degree programs for people who want to work in interior design include architecture and design theory.
In general, a person needs a minimum of two years of full-time, on-the-job training and experience before they can officially market themselves as an interior designer. So gaining employment within interior design is a crucial step. This opportunity might be an internship, apprenticeship, or entry-level job at interior design firms.
In addition to a degree program and experience, a person who wants to start a career in interior design needs to pass the interior design certification. Many states require prospective interior designers to pass an interior design certification before they can begin to work. A person will need an interior design degree (or something similar) and around two years of work experience to qualify for the test.
Once eligible, a person will take the exam, called the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam (or NCIDQ exam, for short).
Areas of Exam in the NCIDQ:
Building codes
Building permits
Inspection regulation
Construction standards
Contract administration
Design application
Professional practice
Project coordination
