This question is about Shipt salaries.
Shipt shoppers pay for groceries typically using an app or online payment method. Shipt is a grocery reseller that connects customers to local grocers and convenience stores. Customers can virtually browse the aisles of these stores through the app or website and provide payment information when completing the order.
When a customer completes their order, it will be made available to you via a separate Shopper App. Once the order is accepted by a shopper, Shipt will load funds on a prepaid credit card held by the contract shopper.
When a shopper receives and accepts an order, Shipt will fund this prepaid card with the approximate amount of the order. Typically, the company provides extra funds on the card in case of unexpected groceries. A shopper should never have to pay out of pocket for an item.
The shopper then fulfills the order, making any substitutions or additions requested by the customer during shopping, and then checks out. Shipt uses the card price when determining the price of items available, but there is a markup, just as there is a markup on many items you would purchase from Amazon or other online vendors).
Upon delivery, the order is finalized, and the customer is charged. Several factors affect the Shipt shopper pay rate. Drivers receive $5 for every trip that they complete, in addition to 7.5% of the total order cost.
For example, let's say that a customer places a $200 order. You'll keep 7.5% of the order, or $15. Add this to the $5 base pay, and you'll receive $20 for the order. Drivers also get to keep 100% of the tips they receive.
