How do you put actuarial exams on a resume?

You can put actuarial exams on a resume toward the top for every exam you have passed and any exam you're planning to take in the next eight months. This is because you are showing potential employees that you have the required skills needed to work as an actuary.

Actuarial exams are arguably the most important factor in getting hired as an actuary. Having your exams correctly displayed on your resume can make or break a potential job candidate.

First things first, you'll want to display the exams you have passed and any that you are currently working on. Specifically, you should put them right at the top of your resume (but below your objective statement if you have one). This immediately shows employers that you're dedicated and that you can actually pass actuarial exams.

A common question among prospective actuaries is whether to include the exam scores. The simple answer is yes, but only if you have an impressive score. Otherwise, just write passed instead of the actual exam score. Regardless of how you do it, be consistent. If you write the exam score for one, then you'll need to write the exam scores for all the actuarial exams.

If you received a preliminary pass (i.e., an unofficial pass) on your exam but still haven't got your final results, then it's best practice to clearly state that your pass is a preliminary pass on your resume.

If you are currently working on an actuary exam and plan to take the exam in the next eight months, then you should include it in this section. To do this, you should include the month/year in which you plan to write or take the exam.

The formatting should be very similar to how you wrote the other exam; however, instead of writing 'passed' or the exam score, you're going to write 'sitting'.
