This question is about x-ray technician education.
X-ray technician school takes two years to complete. You can get an x-ray tech education at many different universities and colleges. You need an associate's degree in radiologic technology to be an x-ray technician.
These associate degree programs prepare you to work in an essential medical team unit by developing your patient care skills, technical knowledge and abilities, and analytical assets.
You study medical areas such as:
Anatomy
Physiology
X-ray physics
X-ray technology
Radiographic procedures
Most associate programs also have clinical rotations included within them. After you get your associate's degree, you must obtain a license. In most states, this is a requirement.
You must pass a licensing exam to obtain an x-ray tech license. Certain states use the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT) exam or accept ARRT certification as enough qualification to gain a license.
If you work in a state that does not require this, you might still want to consider getting certified by the ARRT. This can help you stand out as a candidate and speak to your knowledge, competence, and dedication.
The ARRT exam contains 200 questions, most of which are multiple-choice. Certification obtained from this exam is valid for two years, after which you must complete 24 hours of continuing radiologic technology education for renewal.
