How many hours can a 15-year-old work in New Jersey?

In New Jersey, a 15-year-old can work up to 18 hours a week during the school year. They cannot work more than 3 hours a day on a school day. You also cannot work more than 8 hours on a day when school is not in session, and the total work hours cannot be over 18 hours for a given week.

When school is not in session, or if the person is not enrolled in school, a 15-year-old can work up to 40 hours in one week. There are limits to working hours for minors under 16. They cannot work before 7 am or after 7 pm. From June 1st through Labor Day they can work until 9 pm.
