How many hours can a 16-year-old work in Oklahoma?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Mar. 13, 2023

A 16-year-old living in Oklahoma can work up to 40 hours per work week. The only restriction is that they cannot work more than 40 hours per week. A minor who is 16 or 17 years old in Oklahoma cannot work any overtime.

It is important to note that federal law states that minors cannot work after 7 pm when school is in session and 9 pm when school is not. They also cannot work before 7 am at any time. Federal law also defines a minor as someone under 18 years old, so while Oklahoma does not have restrictions on 16- and 17-year-olds, federal law does.
