A minor in Nevada can work different amounts of hours depending on their age and other factors. Here is a breakdown of the number of hours different age groups of minors can work in Nevada:
14 and 15-year-old minors
When school is in session these minors have the ability to work:
3 hours per school day (including Fridays)
8 hours per non-school day
18 total per school week
40 hours total per non-school week
Minors at the ages of 14 and 15 in Nevada are not allowed to work before 7 am or after 7 pm. However, they are allowed to work as late as 9 pm from June 1st until Labor Day (School summer vacation) with the exception of the night preceding a school day. These minors are also only allowed to work outside of school hours when school is in session.
16 and 17-year-old minors
When school is in session these minors have the ability to work:
No more than 8 hours per school day (including Fridays)
24 hours per school week
40 total per non-school week
No more than 6 consecutive workdays ( six work days in a row)
Until 10 pm on nights followed by a school day
With written parental permission 16 and 17-year-old minors may work anywhere between 7 am and 11 pm on nights followed by a school day. There is no restricted end time on nights not followed by a school day.
16 and 17-year-old minors may not work in an establishment open to the public between 10 pm and 6 am unless another employee at least 18 years of age also works during the same hours as the
