How many hours do investment bankers work?

The average working hours of an investment banker are reported to be anywhere from 60 to 80 hours per work week. Some investment bankers report working up to 110 hours in one single workweek. Considering that a week only has 140 hours total, investment bankers spend the majority of their time working, especially at the beginning of their careers.

Generally, investment bankers who are beginning and are working as analysts have a very unbalanced work/life balance. They often do not have much free time outside of work, which makes sense because it is almost as if they are working two full-time positions. This hard work can pay off with high pay, and eventually, these hours lower to a more standard work week.
