How much do triple-A baseball players make?

By Zippia Team - Oct. 25, 2022

Triple-A baseball players make between $500 and $700 per week. Minor league baseball players are paid much less than players in Major League Baseball (MLB) and, in many cases, earn less than most jobs in the United States. In most cases, minor league players earn less than $15,000 per season.

The average salary for an MLB player in the 2022 season was $4.4 million. Minor league players are only paid for the duration of the baseball season, which is typically about 5 months out of the year. Under most circumstances, this does not include the spring training season.

A minor league player earning a maximum of $700 per week and playing for a full 22 weeks would earn $15,400. It is important to note that amateur baseball players who are selected near the top of the MLB draft may earn additional signing bonuses while playing in the minor league system.

But such large bonuses are reserved for only some of the top players, and most players in the minor leagues do not have this luxury. Minor league baseball teams are franchises made up of players under contract to and controlled by their MLB baseball club.

All 30 MLB teams have a multiteam minor league system that funnels their players up to the major leagues. During the season, minor leaguers noted that they are required to be at work for nearly the entire day. This means waking up at 5:00 am, being on a bus, and heading to the next game or training at the field or batting cages all day, every day.

In the opinion of many minor league baseball players, they are not being given a livable wage. Minor league baseball players tend to struggle financially while attempting to pursue their major league dream.
