Is DoorDash a good company to work for?

DoorDash driver wages. DoorDash drivers make a wide range of different salaries. Since DoorDash drivers dictate their work schedule and choose how many hours a week to deliver, their average salaries vary considerably.

If treated like a full-time job with a work week of 40 hours or more, a DoorDash driver may earn an annual salary of around $55,000.

Those that treat it more like a part-time job make an annual salary in the $20,000 to $25,000 range. Most DoorDash drivers earn anywhere from $12 to $18 per hour. Wages can also fluctuate because their earnings also include tips.

DoorDash bonuses. DoorDash also does promotional bonus pay for their drivers. For example, a common promotional bonus pay option involves drivers completing 450 deliveries within one month. If a DoorDash driver does this, they earn an additional $200.

DoorDash peak pay. DoorDash peak pay happens when DoorDash is very busy with lots of orders during certain times of a given day. When DoorDash drivers make deliveries during peak pay timeframes, they receive extra payment in addition to their regular rate and tips.

When peak pay is available, a DoorDash driver can see this reflected on the app when clocking in for a shift. Peak pay is automatically added to the total earnings a driver is shown when offered a delivery.

DoorDash driver payments. DoorDash pays their delivery drivers weekly through direct deposit. Drivers are paid for all deliveries completed between Monday - Sunday of the previous week (ending Sunday at midnight).

Payments are transferred directly to the driver's bank account with a 2-3 day processing period. Typically the funds are available by Wednesday night.

DoorDash also gives their drivers the option to use Fast Pay. This service can let drivers cash out their earnings daily for a fee of $1.99 rather than waiting for their weekly direct deposit.

DoorDash hiring process. It takes an average of one to two weeks to be hired by DoorDash. After applying, you are required to watch a training video, then attend an orientation where you start the process of a background check and receive a DoorDash t-shirt to be worn while working.

DoorDash's background check takes an average of five to seven business days. Typically, you can start driving for the company around a week from submitting your application.
