What degree do I need to be a logistics analyst?
You need a bachelor's degree to be a logistics analyst, preferably in engineering or operations analysis. Many companies have a minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree for logistic analysts. However, in some cases, with enough work experience, someone with an associate's degree may be considered for the position.
Most logistics analysts have a bachelor's degree in operations engineering, operations analysis, or a related field. However, It is uncommon for more prestigious organizations to seek out candidates with a master's degree in business management, analysis, or related field.
In addition to educational credentials, most logistics analyst positions require at least three to five years of work experience at a middle management level. A candidate with a master's degree may be hired with less than one to three years of experience. Conversely, a candidate with an associate's degree may need six to eight years of experience.
Regardless of degree type, a prospective logistics analyst should be familiar with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements as they apply to logistics and have good computer skills especially working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
They should also master some soft skills such as effective communication and good decision-making.
