What degree do you need to be a pharmaceutical scientist?

By Zippia Team - Jul. 31, 2023

You need a master's degree in pharmacology to be a pharmaceutical scientist. However, most choose to get a Ph.D. in pharmacology. Pharmaceutical scientists often hold bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D.'s in other fields, such as chemistry.

Many also opt to attend medical skills to round out their pharmacological education and training, although this is not a requirement.

You also need years of experience working in laboratories before you can lead pharmaceutical experiments yourself as a pharmaceutical scientist.
