A typical day for an interior designer involves client correspondence, designing, and outsourcing. No single day is exactly the same, but in general, the tasks revolve around a similar modality.
Most designers begin their day with phone calls and meetings with clients. These phone calls often entail discussing the needs, wants, and budget of the client. Once these details are squared away, the designer can begin working on design boards. The design board brings together a visual for the client to see what is coming together and to consider changes.
The designer will need some basics, such as size and space, which can include an onsite trip for the day. While managing the previous, the designer must also consistently make sure they are meeting regulations, standards, and practicality for the project at hand.
When this is established, they will then reach out to subcontractors for the necessary jobs. Somewhere within the day, they may get to scour the internet or local shopping for the perfect items to fit the design. Eventually, the day is rounded off with follow-up calls to clients to give well-anticipated updates.
