What is social facilitation?

Social facilitation is a social phenomenon in which being in the presence of others improves individual task performance. People do better at tasks when they are working on them with others, rather than doing the task on their own.

There are some theorized reasons for this. Some people believe that perceived competition between people working together sees higher results than without that competition. Others believe that social facilitation gives you higher risks, as you do not want to let down someone directly with you, so you focus more on the tasks and try to be a better worker.,
