What is the Target hierarchy?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Mar. 13, 2023

The Target hierarchy includes positions as a team member, team leader, executive team lead, store director, district senior director, and regional manager.

Above the regional manager, you then have more senior positions that do not interact with lower-level employees, but up to the regional manager, this hierarchy all has interactions with each other.

Team members are the lowest members of the Target hierarchy. This is where everyone begins working. They have the least experience but also have the least responsibility. After gaining some experience, team members become team leaders, overseeing a group of team members.

Team leaders can then become executive team leads, who oversee the team leads and have additional responsibilities. They directly report to the store director, who oversees the entire store. The store director then reports to district senior directors overseeing multiple stores.

The regional manager oversees even more stores, is over a district senior director, and is responsible for reporting findings to upper management. Regional managers are the last direct link to a specific store.
