What should a truck driver put on their resume?

When describing yourself, don't forget to touch on some of your top trucking skills. For example, "Reliable CDL-C truck driver with over eight years truck driving experience. Proven skills in vehicle maintenance and customer service."

After this, we recommend listing your CDL certifications. Be sure to include the type of license and the year that it was issued. You don't need to have a separate section for your CDL license. Other places to list your CDL are in your education section or under skills.

The experience section covers your previous trucking or other driving experience with three to six bullet points per job listed. While the bullet points are meant to reflect actual examples of your work experience, they should focus on your skills and achievements as a truck driver.

For example, "Drove an average 5,000 miles/week as certified CDL-A OTR Driver. Delivered to schedule 98% of the time with 99% customer satisfaction".

If you're applying to your first truck driver job, then focus on other related skills you may have used in other types of positions. For example, if you worked as an Uber driver, you could state something like " Successfully completed more than 300 trips while maintaining a driver rating of 4.95 stars for approximately three years".
