The skills a data analyst needs are a strong mathematical understanding, programming knowledge, and some soft skills. Data analysts analyze data for organizations, sometimes also participating in the collection and organization of data.

Data analysts work in a number of different industries, from banking to academia, agriculture, and beyond.

The most basic skill a data analyst needs is mathematical knowledge; statistical expertise is highly beneficial for a career in data analytics in order to effectively test and analyze subsets of data.

In addition to mathematical knowledge, data analysts need programming expertise. The most commonly used programming languages for data analysts are R, Python, and Excel, depending on the size of the datasets.
