Where do LPNs work?

In nursing homes and residential facilities, LPNs work alongside healthcare and administrative workers to tend to the needs of nursing home residents. LPNs within a nursing home help manage residents, a unique and rewarding opportunity.

It is estimated that 15% of LPNs are employed in hospitals, making it the second most common work environment. At hospitals LPNs work closely with doctors, other nurses, and other members of a patient's care team, generally assisting with basic patient care duties.

LPNs also work in physicians' offices, which can be slower-paced than hospital settings. The work that LPNs do in doctors' offices can vary based on the doctor's practice area. An LPN may help check patients in, take down information about a patient's symptoms or ailments, and administer injections or other medications as needed.
