You want to be a CRNA for the following reasons:

• There are many job opportunities for CRNAs. The medical industry is always growing, meaning there are always new job opportunities for medical professionals.

  CRNAs in particular have an expected job growth of 31% between the years of 2014 and 2024. This is nearly double the percentage of the expected job growth of RNs.

  This also means CRNAs don't have to feel tied down to their current location, and are free to move just about anywhere in the country and find work.

• CRNAs have flexible schedules. Because of the large need for CRNAs, many of them can choose work schedules to fit their personal needs.

  This includes taking part-time roles, as well as full time. There are also opportunities to work as needed, or be on call.

• CRNAs make exceptional salaries. Most CRNAs are very well compensated.

  The average CRNA makes an annual salary of $160,000. And certain areas of the country give CRNAs extremely good salaries, such as Montana, where a CRNA makes an average salary of $243,000 per year.

• Variety of work environments to choose from. CNAs work in many different kinds of medical settings. They have advanced training and a broad scope of practice, so they are needed anywhere anesthesia is required.

  Some medical environments that CRNAs work in include hospitals, pain clinics, doctors' offices, dental offices, endoscopy centers, and plastic surgery centers.

• It's a profession that provides a critical service and helps people. CRNAs can take pride in their work, knowing they are providing expert medical care that assists in the practice of major surgeries and other important medical procedures.

  CRNAs also get the opportunity to meet many different kinds of people, including their medical colleagues and of course their patients. Patients place a great deal of trust in CRNAs, and as a result, CRNAs get a sense of how important and valued their position is.
