Required Education & Experience:

Ensures utilization decisions are compliant with state, federal and accreditation regulations.
Meets or exceeds regulatory turnaround time and departmental productivity goals when processing referral/authorization requests.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
Active PA Licensed RN or compact license that includes PA
BSN Preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of acute care clinical experience in a hospital or other health care setting
Medical management/precertification experience preferred.

About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical-Surgical team. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver comprehensive, standards-based nursing care to a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. You will apply the nursing process, ensure patient safety and comfort, manage pain, administer medications, and provide clinical leadership to the care team.
Responsibilities
Assess patient condition, nursing needs, and pain levels upon admission and throughout the shift, with attention to adult and geriatric age-specific needs
Develop, implement, and revise individualized nursing plans of care daily
Provide direct professional nursing care and conduct hourly rounds focused on patient safety (fall prevention, restraint reduction) and pain management
Perform fall assessments on admission and each shift; follow hospital protocols to minimize restraint use
Initiate, plan, implement, and document patient and family health teaching
Administer medications, including IVs, in strict adherence to hospital policy, Patient Safety Goals, and procedures (e.g., Pyxis usage, documentation of wasted narcotics)
Ensure compliance with documentation standards for blood administration and central line care
Assist physicians during patient rounds, procedures, and exams
Monitor, recognize, and report patient observations, changes, and reactions to appropriate staff (physician, manager, charge nurse)
Document all observations, interventions, and teaching accurately and concisely in the patient record
Communicate patient condition clearly during shift changes
Transcribe physician orders accurately and document oral orders appropriately
Complete transfer forms and provide call reports to receiving facilities
Direct, supervise, and evaluate care provided by team members (new staff, students, volunteers)
Maintain nursing care standards and participate in unit quality assurance and nursing service councils
Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by using supplies cost-effectively, maintaining equipment, and adhering to hospital policies regarding overtime and patient charges
