Founded in Jerome, ID in 1976
The “USDA Organic” seal that appears on food packaging — essentially a USDA guarantee of quality — was created by federal rules in 2000.
Our on-farm milk plant was built in 2004.
Our first High Plains Dairy was built as a greenfield model for a large-scale organic, pasture-based dairy in 2006.
Our Pepper dairy was established in 2007 to meet the continued growth in consumer demand for grass-fed organic milk.
In 2008, the Milkweed, a dairy economics report, compared Aurora’s milk to other organic milks.
Aurora also settled a related class-action lawsuit for $7.5 million in 2012 and said it did not admit wrongdoing.
But milks from the Rocky Mountain region and those from the Mid-Atlantic vary little, according to a 2013 study of organic milks published in PLOS One.
