Pros of working at Burroughs

If you like driving, if you like having the freedom that comes from working on various machines without someone on your back constantly, You'll almost like this job. See my cons

Cons of working at Burroughs

Pay is horrible. It starts low, you never get a raise. We got out first real raise this year 2024. They laid off a bunch of people though. The management system above your field manager is clueless and greedy. There is no upward mobility out of the field, yeah there's several levels of tech now, but it doesn't seem to come with a raise. They appear to forget that inflation effects is at all. They are now attempting to steal time from techs in the field. Burroughs has also gotten away from financial equipment and we now work on everything from atms to floor cleaning robots. It's hell because you didn't get a raise to learn those machines. The ceo appears to be afraid of talking to the field.

Burroughs benefits

Being alone all day except on a site, company car, the ability to take trainings on anything,

What do you like best about Burroughs's CEO and the leadership team?

Nothing. The leadership team is clueless most of the time. They just throw things at us and expect us to just take it.

How would you improve Burroughs's culture?

I would have more consistent town hall meetings that were an hour instead of 30 minutes. I would promote from within rather than hiring the buddies of the leadership team. I would cut leadership pay and benefits to get the lower employees in line with industry standard.

How did you prepare for the Burroughs interview?

It was a phone only interview, and I already had many years of experience in the industry. So really no preparing.

How does your compensation at Burroughs compare to the industry average?

Low. Very low. Benefits are horrible, like most of American insurance is right now. I feel like any day now they'll stop 401k matching.

What's the diversity at Burroughs like?

We have a very diverse set of techs in the field, but in upper management, not very diverse.

What brings you the most joy at Burroughs?

Being able to talk to good techs, answer questions on the things I know. Driving place to place and bringing a machine I've never seen before come back to life and function flawlessly.
