Key Responsibilities:
Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene needs.
Provide mobility assistance, including support with walking aids (cane, walker) and other adaptive equipment.
Help plan and prepare meals and snacks in accordance with dietary needs outlined in the client's care plan.
If needed, assist with client feeding.
Observe and report any changes in a client's:
Physical condition (e.g., mobility, weight, appetite).
Mental or emotional well-being (e.g., mood changes, confusion).
Home environment that may pose safety risks.
Perform light housekeeping duties such as tidying up, laundry, and maintaining a clean living space.
Document care activities and communicate updates with the caregiving team through client care records.
Participate in ongoing training and in-service education as required.

As a CNA with the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services (ADVS) you will carry out all assigned para-professional nursing care and treatment services in a prescribed and efficient manner while ensuring a safe, therapeutic, and clean environment.
As an employee of the State of Arizona you will learn, implement, and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods while utilizing AMS concepts and tools for problem solving and continuous work/process improvements and efficiencies. ADVS incorporates a cultural focus on Veteran/Member centered care in the performance of job duties.
Job Duties:
As a CNA you will:
Assist Veterans'/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and other ADLs
Follow instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibility
Assists nursing staff with simple medical procedures such as suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care and post-mortem care
Assist in monitoring physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by utilizing appropriate medical equipment and techniques to take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations); obtain urine, sputum or stool samples; and track input/output
Be responsible for medical record and worksheet documentation on all assigned Veterans/Members. Keeps records and prepares simple reports
Assist Veterans/Members with dining to include transporting to the dining room, informing them about menu choices available for the day, communicating dining staff about Veterans'/Members' choices and serves Veterans/Members their meals in courses, assisting them if necessary.
Provide resident care and comfort by responding to patient requests (verbal or call light) for assistance timely in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights
Maintain cleanliness of areas neat and sanitary by changing bedding, linens and other items
Report to and assists licensed nurses in emergency situations rapidly and appropriately following established policies and procedures
Performs other related duties such as transporting Veterans/Members to appointments outside the facility and clerical duties (e.g., answering phones, filing, etc.) as needed.
Be actively involved in AMS processes such Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work
Participate fully in the QAPI process, our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program mandate by CMS which incorporates AMS

Pre-Employment Requirements:
Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician's assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis
Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
Current or temporary license to practice as a CNA/LPN/RN nurse in the State of Arizona
Current CPR card that was obtained by physical assessment
Ability to drive on State business. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see A.AC. R2-10-207.11).
