What Youll Do

Brief Description of Duties

* All faculty will organize their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), the official LMS provided for the SJSU community. About the role!
The Classroom Assistant will play a vital role in assisting the Teacher in presenting and preparing lessons, as well as preparing materials, activities, and reports. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Classroom Assistant will be responsible for documenting and distributing team notes, conference notes, and parent notes during meetings and as needed.
As a Classroom Assistant, you will:
• Assist Teacher in presenting and preparing lessons as required.
• Assist Behavior Specialist with monitoring the schoolwide Positive Behavior Training (PBT) management system at the classroom level.
• In the event of the absence of a team member, fulfill responsibilities of that team member as necessary for effective program delivery.
• Instruct individuals and small groups of students in academic or behavioral areas as directed by classroom teacher and behavior specialist.
• In conjunction with the teacher or behavior specialist, prepare materials, activities, and reports.
• Plan and deliver weekly whole-group elective lessons.
• Attend and participate in weekly staff, team, and CA meetings.
• Attend special education instructional and mental health training seminars or other training sessions as directed by the Academic Program Manager.
• Supervise students during lunch times, class transitions, and recess times.
• Complete daily student attendance reporting.
• Support with daily administration of student medications.
• Document and distribute team notes, conference notes, and parent notes during meetings and as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
• Ensure that school policies and procedures are carried out.
• Ensure that CA Educational Code is adhered to.
• Adheres to CHC Employee Handbook.
• Ensure the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Law is adhered to.

What we're looking for:
• Knowledge of and/or classroom teaching experience with children with emotional, behavioral, and learning disabilities.
