Personal

Stephen Johnson is an innovative thinker, able to create and foster an efficient and productive workplace environment with exceptional levels of interpersonal and team communications. Stephen is an Adjunct Professor with Barry University for the Public Administration/Policy Program - University of Phoenix and the Everest Institute.

Work Experience

Stephen Johnson became a sworn officer with the University of Kentucky Police Department. He transferred his police certification to the State of Florida, when he joined the North Miami Police Department. He has extensive experience in law enforcement; including patrol, criminal investigations, narcotics, and community policing. As a Major, he oversaw the Patrol, Community Policing and Administration sections.

Stephen Johnson was appointed as the Chief of Police of the North Miami Police Department in August 2010 after serving as the City’s Interim Police Chief since May of that year. He was appointed Interim City Manager by the North Miami City Council in August 2011 and subsequently selected to serve as City Manager.

Education

Stephen Johnson earned an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Miami-Dade College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University.
