City of Paducah company history timeline

1830

A letter written by Clark to his son clearly states the reason for the naming of the town. (A facsimile of the letter and the original Paducah maps are on display at the Market House Museum in Paducah.) The community was incorporated in 1830.

1927

Historic Downtown’s vibrant streets are full of 19th century architecture, celebrated through the Historic Paducah Audio Tour, a walking path where locally owned shops, restaurants and the time-capsuled 1927 Columbia Theatre are highlighted.

1939

Built in 1939, this one-time Coca-Cola bottling plant located in the Midtown neighborhood now houses a coffee shop, brewery and pizza place in its carefully preserved and fascinating architecture.

1962

In 1962, the Fantus Plan adopted by City and County governments called for creation of new image of Paducah by upgrading it physically, economically, socially, and culturally.

1966

In the summer of 1966, Beasley offered to store it at his monument business.

1968

Paducah has several Museums to educate and entertain, such as the Paducah Railroad Museum, the River Discovery Museum, the Tilghman Civil War Museum, and the oldest, the William Clark Market House Museum, founded in 1968.

1983

The building was razed in 1983, and the bell was found in three pieces in the ashes.

1989

But you can't keep a good bell down as it had already literally, like the phoenix, "rose from the ashes." In 1989, Mayor Gerry Montgomery discovered the bell.
