Job Overview
The Drafter/CAD operator III prepares complete sets of complex drawings or computer models that include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Drawings or models include complex design features that require considerable drafting skill to visualize and portray. Assignments regularly require the use of mathematical formulas to draw land contours or to compute weights, center of gravity, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of material, etc. The Draft/CAD Operator works from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an engineer, architect, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments. This operator selects required information from computer programs, and internet sites, precedents, manufacturers' catalogs, and technical guides. This operator independently resolves most of the problems encountered. Supervisor or design originator may suggest methods of approach or provide advice on unusually difficult problems. Typical assignments include:
* Prepares complete sets of drawings of test equipment to be manufactured from layouts, models, or sketches. Several cross-sectional and subassembly drawings are required. From information supplied by the design originator and from technical handbooks and manuals, this operator describes dimensions, tolerances, fits, fabrication techniques, and standard parts to use in manufacturing the equipment.
* From electronic schematics, information as to maximum size, and manuals giving dimensions of standard parts, determines the arrangement and prepares drawing of printed circuit boards.
* From precedents, drafting standards, and established practices, prepares final construction drawings for floodgates, navigation locks, dams, bridges, culverts, levees, channel excavations, dikes and berms, prepares boring profiles, typical cross-sections, and land profiles; and delineates related topographical details as required.
* Prepares final drawings for street paving and widening or for water and sewer lines having complex trunk lines; reduces field notes and calculates true grades. From engineering designs, lays out plan, profile and detail appur- tenances required; and notifies supervisor of conflicting details in design.
* Excludes drafter performing work of similar difficulty to that described at this level but who provides support for a variety of organizations that have widely differing functions or requirements.
Hourly Range: $29.26- $35.12

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Working with NIWC Pacific Drafter/CAD operator III, will provide engineering & support services for various C2 facilities throughout the period of performance. Services required include AV design and installation of space operations centers fusing mission systems and ops center workstations in a manner that provides quick mission assessment and decisional information to adequately affect kill chain decisions.
* Engineering review of current drawing packages, make requisite changes required to meet requirements and room configurations.
* Prepare pre-installation, test, and checkout documents of all new AV equipment components and subcomponents.
* Cataloging and archiving software media included and/or created for AV equipment.
* Engineering oversite and Installation of AV equipment components and subcomponents in locations specified in the IDP or as otherwise directed by the Government.
* Work closely with Government project managers and engineers to create, revise, print, and maintain information technology and telecommunications systems CAD drawings, models, work instructions, and designs from verbal directions.
* Integration support services Configure equipment to provide integrated system.
* Provide programming support for audiovisual system controllers.
* Identify any materials incidental to the integration task not provided.
* Complete system tests in accordance with established test plan to ensure total operation and functional.
* Compatibility with interfacing/interacting systems, subsystems, equipment, and computer programs.
* Troubleshoot and advise corrective action for maintenance and operational issues.
* Schedule and coordinate government representative acceptance and turn-over as required.
* Provide for training and indoctrination documentation of new systems for users following system.
* Build a control system viewer on the control network.
* Link the control system viewer with all system controllers on the control network.
* Integrate Room Scheduling component on the network.
* Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides
* Integrate AV switch matrix in NIWC identified spaces.
* Integrate and configure AV management software suite within identified systems.
* Test AV equipment and switch matrix plans for NIWC identified systems.
* Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides to all AV solutions.

Mandatory:
* Five (5) years of professional experience in computer aided design.
* Current active TS/SCI Clearance
* Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
Preferred:
* Experience in Audio Visual Engineering & Design well versed in AV Applications.
