JACKSON COUNTY, GEORGIA CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION CLASSIFICATION TITLE: CORRECTIONS DETAIL OFFICER PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION The purpose of this classification is to provide general safety and security of the facility, officers, inmates and the general public during an assigned shift. Trains inmates on specified work duty and monitors activity within the facility and on work detail.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position and are a representative sample. Provides assistance with any security matters at the Jackson County Correctional Institute on assigned shift; conducts routine security inspections throughout shift; takes head counts throughout the shift; acts on emergency situations following established protocol; breaks up fights among inmates.
Monitors inmate activity on work detail; observes physical condition of inmates; notifies inmates of required attendance at classes or other engagements; may conduct inmate drug testing; assists with inmate transfer process.
Maintains effective control of keys, locks, doors, and other locking devices; maintains inventory of supplies.
Responds to telephone and radio calls.
Completes duty and incident reports.
Operates a personal computer, copier, fax machine, phone system, communication system, and other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the possible use of word processing, database, or other system software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent with one to three years experience as an officer in a correctional institute and knowledge of the daily operations and security matters at a correctional facility; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to obtain POST certification from the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Purpose of Job
The primary purpose of this job is to maintain order and supervise inmates in the Athens-Clarke County Correctional Institution, Food Service Center, or Diversion Center. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: insure inmate count of the institution is maintained, supervise inmate visitation, maintain security of the facility, coordinate placing of inmates on outside work details, perform regular inspections of the facility, insure institution is clean and sanitary, insure tools and chemicals are properly controlled, provide leadership and supervision over inmates , react quickly and effectively to situations jeopardizing the health and safety of others and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: Twelve-hour shifts, rotating days off. Shifts are 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. All Correctional Officers are required to work weekends.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Emergency Position

Job Summary
The Campus Police Sergeant creates and maintains a safe and secure environment for community members to engage in pursuit of higher education, visitation of guests, and security of campus properties.

What You'll Do:
Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a retail or mall location.
Monitor access points and verify credentials of individuals entering and exiting the premises to help to deter unauthorized entry.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter potential security-related issues and observe for unusual activity.
Document and report any security-related incidents, observations, or concerns according to company procedures.
Work collaboratively with store management and other staff to support a secure environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
Assist with crowd control and/or line management as needed during busy periods or special events within the location.
Minimum Requirements:
Alarm panel experience is preferred.
Access control or badge experience is preferred.
Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
Customer service experience is preferred.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
