CorrectionOfficers, under supervision, maintain security and are responsible for the care, custody, control, job training and work performance of sentenced and detained inmates within New York City correctional facilities. They supervise inmate meals, visits, recreational programs, and other congregate activities; inspect assigned areas for conditions which threaten safety and security; conduct searches in order to detect contraband; complete forms and reports; maintain appropriate log books; communicate with other area CorrectionOfficers to exchange pertinent information; issue verbal orders, announcements and explanations to inmates; observe inmates and make recommendations concerning medical and/or psychiatric referrals; safeguard Department supplies and equipment; escort inmates within and outside of the facility including their transportation in Departmental vehicles; respond to unusual incidents and disturbances; enforce security procedures in accordance with Department guidelines; request medical assistance for inmates when necessary; count and verify the number of inmates present in assigned areas; verify identification of inmates; supervise inmates of either sex; operate a motor vehicle; and perform related work.

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and either:
a. At least 6 months of honorable full-time United States military service; or
b. At least 6 months of full-time, satisfactory experience in the provision of social
services or casework, dealing directly with clients, mental health counseling, or
services to the homeless; or
c. At least 6 months in Law Enforcement positions described as follows:
i. In positions classified as Police Officers pursuant to Section 1.20,
subdivision 34, of the New York State Criminal Procedure Law; or
ii. In positions classified as Peace Officers pursuant to Section 2.10 of the
New York State Criminal Procedure Law, or
iii. In positions designated as Special Patrolman pursuant to Section 14-106
of the Administrative Code and Chapter 13 of Title 38 of the Rules of the
City of New York, or
iv. In positions in Federal Law Enforcement or Law Enforcement in other
states or municipalities with status or designations equivalent to (i), (ii),
or (iii) above; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least 1 year of
satisfactory, full-time paid general work experience; or
3. Two years of active service in the Army Reserve, the Army National Guard, the Navy
Reserve, the Air Force Reserve, the Air National Guard, the Marine Corps Reserve, or
the Coast Guard Reserve with an honorable discharge. Time spent in the Individual
Ready Reserve (IRR) will not count towards two years of active service

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of the test. Pursuant to subdivision 4a of Sec. 23 of the Civil Service Law, preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months preceding the date of the written test.
Applicants must have good knowledge of New York State laws; good knowledge of the rules and regulations of the college Public Safety Office; good knowledge of safety issues; ability to carry out oral and written directions; ability to deal effectively with people; ability to act quickly in an emergency situation; initiative; good judgment; mental alertness; tact and courtesy; good physical condition.
(a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or closely related field and one (1) year of experience in a law enforcement agency or security /safety force; or
(b) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in a law enforcement agency or security /safety force; or

The duties involve the responsibility of public safety on the college campus. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Safety:

* Control and direct traffic on campus roadways and parking lots;

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Loss Prevention Manager and Store Manager, the Loss Prevention Agent is the asset protection and safety specialist of our stores; playing a critical role in delivering on our commitment to be in stock for our guests. The Loss Prevention Agent serves both our internal and external customer by creating a safe work environment and reducing inventory shortages.
Key Responsibilities:
Train store team members on loss prevention and safety policies, procedures and standards: ensure compliance from all store team, notifying store management/Loss Prevention Manager of any violations.
Assist store and loss prevention management with investigations of both internal and external customers.
Patrol the store and post in designated areas as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager
Identify shortage risks and service all customers in accordance with company standards.
Prepare all incident reports for safety, injury, accidents, theft, cash handling, and shortage: reviewing all reports with the Loss Prevention Manager daily.
Identify shortages of inventory, partner with loss prevention management on creating solutions.
Identify safety or loss risks, immediately notifying store and loss prevention management to prevent accidents.
Support loss prevention management with audits and inventory counts.
Ensure full confidentiality at all times.
Assist with special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of computer applications; including Security Software, CCTV equipment, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledgeable of federal, state and local law
Knowledgeable of surveillance/security equipment and installations
Ability to travel to stores within assigned area
Must be able to work for extended periods of standing or walking the sales floor as required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to effectively communicate with customers and store personnel
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, read computer terminals, push, pull or move objects of at least 50 lbs.
Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor and stockroom, repetitive bending, prolonged standing, twisting, stooping, squatting, and climbing
Schedule Requirements:
Ability to work a flexible schedule that meets the business needs, including nights, evenings and weekends.
Full Time Requirements:
· Maintain open availability at least five (5) days per week, averaging 32 hours or more per week based on business seasonality.
· Have no more than two (2) days off in the same Monday to Sunday workweek.
· Limit scheduling restrictions to no more than three (3) days per week with only one (1) restriction permitted between Friday to Sunday. Within a week, if there are three (3) restrictions, at least one (1) restriction must be time based (e.g., "not available before 3:00 p.m.")
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D., Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related preferred

Completes the daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs. Maintains positive relationships with Store Management. Conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines. Communicates with store Associates on damage and shrink initiatives. Identifies and resolves internal and external theft.
Adheres to established shoplifter guidelines and policies
Provides timely, courteous and knowledgeable service to customers
Promotes a culture of honesty and integrity; maintains confidentiality
Observes, apprehends, and/or deters any acts of dishonesty from outside sources
Participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned
Ensures apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity
Completes and distributes paperwork in an accurate and timely manner

Coordinates and complete shrink related activities in partnership with Store Management
