Performs highly advanced supervisory and administrative work directing staff responsible for the care and custody of inmates. Work involves responsibility for the custody and discipline of inmates and for the food service program; and supervising through subordinate food service staff responsible for food preparation and service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A. Education, Experience, and Training 1. Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. 2. Six years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody, law enforcement or food service management experience to include three years in the supervision of employees. Operational Review Sergeant or Security Threat Group Sergeant experience may be substituted for supervisory experience for a maximum substitution of one year. Thirty semester hours with a minimum of six semester hours in Criminal Justice from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for one year of the non[1]supervisory experience for a maximum substitution of one year. Must have or be able to obtain current, valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification by an authorized association, organization, or government entity within twelve months of employment date. Campus safety officers will be primarily stationed on the Kilgore or Longview campus, but may serve in other areas as needed. This is a full-time position providing day, evening, and night time safety services to staff and students primarily at the Kilgore College Campus.
